APC Will Take Over Ondo - National Chairman, Oyegun Boasts

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has declared that the party will defeat the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State.

He said Ondo State was very important to the Federal Government, adding that this was the reason why the APC must take over the state from the PDP in 2017.

He said that the candidate of the APC for the forthcoming poll, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), was valuable to the national leadership of the party.

Odigie-Oyegun stated this during the governorship campaign of the APC on Thursday at the Democracy Park in Akure. The rally had in attendance some leaders of the party both at the state and national levels.

They included the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Babachir Lawal; state governors of Ogun, Plateau, Borno, Benue, Sokoto and Bauchi, Messrs Ibikunle Amosun, Solomon Lalong, Kashim Shetima, Samuel Ortom,  Aminu Tambuwal and Mohammed Abubakar respectively.

Some other dignitaries present at the event were the Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu; Minister of Solid Minerals, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole; Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Lasun Yussuff, among others.

While presenting the flag of the party to Akeredolu, the national chairman charged the party members and supporters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards in order to enable them to vote in the forthcoming election.

He said, “To oust the party in power, it requires hard work and commitment. Let us go out and work hard to win this election. We are here to let you know how important Ondo State is to the Federal Government and also to let you know how valuable our candidate, Akeredolu, is to us. Let us work hard and by the grace of God, we will win the election.”

Addressing a mammoth crowd of party supporters from the 18 local government areas of the state, Akeredolu urged all the members of the party to join hands with him to win the election.

He warned them not to vote for the Alliance for Democracy, saying the AD was an orphan which could not win the election.
